2026 Beautiful Tensions On Tour

25-10-2026 Gray Street Workshop In-conversation at Bunjil Place Gallery for Radiant Pavillion

2026! Such a busy year! Beautiful Tensions: Gray Street Workshop Celebrates 40years is midway through its’ National tour; currently in the very beautiful Bunjil Place Gallery. I call it the Guggenheim of Narrewarren! All the partners have just returned from our In-conversation event in the spacious gallery there presented for Melbourne’s renowned Radiant Pavilion. Thank you to Anne Brennan for leading the conversation; the Jamfactory and the Bunjil Place team for the excellent install, encouragement and professional support. Exemplary! And what great audiences! audiences!

It’s been an education and a joy touching base with the many regional galleries and their highly supportive staff and receptive audiences along the way. In Broken Hill we sat down with local artists and exchanged stories of art-making and professional survival. Their dedication and personal commitment was very moving. I am grateful for this opportunity to learn from others and share in our legacy of 40years (now 41) collaborative art practice.

It’s a huge show, like four exhibitions in one room, and each time its presented in a new gallery we see it afresh and the threads and insights have slowly built new perspectives on individual works and the exhibition as a whole. It reflects where and how we live, how we interact as individuals with our immediate environment and more and more, as time passes, the exhibition has become a marker of a time, embodying the political and personal concerns that are all-pervasive - climate change, loss, grief, consumerism, hope, love, joy, family.

Next stop is Tweed Regional Gallery in November. Hope you get to catch it somewhere soon!
